Kolman Wong on Monday made history to win a Grand Slam singles match in Open Era by becoming the first person from Hong Kong at the US Open, with Alexander Kovsevik in Flushing Meadows after qualifying for the main draw. The 21 -year -old victory follows the success of his close friend Alexandra Eela, who became the first Philipino to win the Grand Slam singles match On Sunday. Both players train at Rafael Nadal’s academy in Mallorka.Wong said, “I am still soaking it, because it is a big moment for me and my family, and the people of Hong Kong are back home. It means a lot,” Wong said, seeing that he had received a congratulatory lesson from Nadal.Wong’s tennis trip started at Victoria Park Tennis Court in Hong Kong at the age of five, where she unexpectedly took her sister’s place to a lesson when she fell ill.He trained at Hong Kong Sports Institute in Sha Tin before visiting Nadal’s academy at the age of 17.

The EALA, who saw Wong’s victory from the courtside helped him adjust life in Europe.“First, it was difficult because it was the covid bar when I went there,” Wong said. “Alex helped me a lot to get environmental habit because she was there for a long time. I think it was a year to adjust. I had never gone to Spain before, and I had not gone to barely before going to Europe. So it’s difficult for Spain to be a small child from Hong Kong, it is difficult for Spain.”During the Miami Open Masters event, Wong showed his ability by defeating Ben Shelton earlier this year, which is now sixth in New York. However, he has struggled to make significant progress at the ATP level, often failed to carry forward the previous qualifying round in major events including the French Open and Wimbledon.“To be honest, this is not easy. I mean everyone has their own ups and downs, especially tennis players,” said Wong. “Tennis is one of the most difficult games. I think I don’t know when I am going to break. I just need to believe.”Wong has a positive attitude for its upcoming matches in New York.“I need to be believed, and I know I can do it,” he said. “I just want to keep walking, and let’s see how deep I can go.”
