Should those who act against the nation be acquitted or punished in jail?

Delhi Police argued in the Delhi High Court on 9 July, Wednesday that the intention behind the riots of February 2020 in the capital was to discredit the nation globally through a well -planned and orchestrated criminal conspiracy by accused persons including Sharjil Imam and Omar Khalid.
The Delhi Police was opposing the bail arguments of the accused persons, when it was argued before a bench by Justices Naveen Chawla and Shalinder Kaur that it was not a spontaneous riot, but a well -organized act planned in advance in the country’s capital, aimed at a special day and time.
The bench reserved its decision after hearing the arguments of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta for the police and lawyers of the accused persons.
“If you are doing something against your nation, you stay in jail until you get acquitted or guilty. There was a riot in the country’s capital where 100 police personnel and 41 other public people were injured and a police personnel lost their lives,” Mehta claimed.
It was in relation to the arguments of Imam, Khalid, Mohammad Salim Khan, Shifa ur Rehman, Athar Khan, Miran Haider, Abdul Khalid Saifi and Gulafish Fatima.
The hearing on the bail argument of accused Shadab Ahmed will continue on Thursday, July 10.
Mehta called the arguments of the long -term accused of the prison time as election, saying that there was no basis for giving only a long chaos bail.

On July 28, Wednesday, the Lok Sabha passed a resolution, approving the expansion of the President’s rule in Manipur for one and six months beyond August 13, in which the government claimed that peace is prevalent in the northeastern state.
