On the eve of pride, Pete Hegseth seminal erases homosexual rights activist Harvey Milk

On June 3, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ordered to change the name of the Navy USNS Harvey Milk – A highly rare step that snatched the ship of a slain homosexual worker’s monkey, who served as a sailor during the Korean war.

US officials said that the Navy Secretary John Fale laid a small team to resume a small team and was expected to have a new name within the month.

Announcing that name, Hegseth has said, “We are removing politics from the name of the ship.” Donald Trumeo surely suit the anti-day attitude of the administration. New name, however? USNS Oscar V. Peterson – Named for a sailor, who fought in the Battle of Coral Sagar and was awarded the posthumous medal (very) medal (very) in 2010.

The US Defense Secretary, another Oscar Pietersen, will not cock the Snuq for Jazz legend and anti-racist worker, will he do?

The change was placed in an internal memorandum that officials stated that the purposes of President Donald Trump and Hegseth defended action as a step to “rebuild warrior culture”.

It marks the latest steps by Hegseth and comprehensive Trump administration to mention all programs, policies, books and references to diversity, equity and inclusion in social media. And it comes during the pride month – the same time as the Pentagon campaign to get transgender soldiers out of the US Army.

Or, in fact, it becomes a better, coming on the eve of International LGBT Pride Day.

When this decision was first reported by Military.com, Fale’s office did not respond to the request for comment. associated Press,

USNS Harvey Milk The then-Navi Secretary Ray Mabus recently nominated as 2016, who said at the time that John Lewis Class of Oilors would be named after the leaders who fought for civil and human rights.

Milk, which was depicted in the 2008 film by Sean Penn, served the Navy for four years before he was forced to be gay. He later became one of the first openly gay candidates selected to the public office.

Milk served at San Francisco Board of Supervisors and sponsored a bill that banned discrimination based on sexual orientation in public housing, housing and employment. It passed, and San Francisco Mayor George Moskon signed it in the law.

On 27 November 1978, both Milk and Moskon were murdered by Dan White, a dissatisfied former city observer who cast the only vote against the milk bill.

Nancy Pelosi, a former house speaker of a Democrat, representing San Francisco, said in a statement on June 3 that the decision to change the name of the ship was “the embarrassing, anti -eradication of those who fought to break the obstacles to all to chase American dreams”.

Pelosi said that the people of San Francisco proud that the name of the milk beautifies the ship and urges the Navy to reconsider.

He said, “This fickle step does not strengthen our national security or ethos of warrior,” he said. “Instead, it is an original American value surrender: to honor the heritage of those who worked to create a better country.”

When the ship was formally nominated in 2021, then the then-Navi Secretary Carlos Dell Toro said during the ceremony that he wanted to be in the event “not only to amend the past mistakes, but also to inspire all our LGBTQ community leaders, which in the Navy, today and also to tell them that we tell them that we tell them that we tell them.

The ship is operated by the Military Sealft Command with the crew of about 125 civilians. The Navy says that it held its first renovation mission in the sea in the autumn 2024 while working at the Virginia Caps. Earlier this year, Alabama’s mobile, Alabama continued to resume naval ships from the eastern coast to the sea until the prescribed maintenance at Alabama Shipyard.

While naming is rare, the Biden administration also changed the names of two naval ships in 2023 – as part of the attempt to remove confederate names from American military installations.

USS Chancellorsville – Nominated for the fight for civil war – its name was changed USS Robert SmallsAfter a sailor who was a slave person in the east. USNS MauryaAn oceanographic survey ship was originally named after a confederate sailor USNS Mary Thorp (Women) After geologist and osanographic cartographer, who created the first scientific maps of the Atlantic Ocean floor.

As the name of the ships is so unusual, marine learning believes that the name of a ship formally changes the name of ‘permission’ to the scope of the sea, as it increases vengeance from sea gods.

But then, it is hardly a barrier to the intention of a regime, which is the name of the sea itself, perhaps.

It remains to be seen that the ship that the US is will definitely rent to the history of history with its anti-day-day captain.
