Modi government is not doing anything

In June 2025, our government announced that India took it as its responsibility to bring the voice of global South (hence Vogs) on the world stage. As the headline of a newspaper said: ‘Time to feel the appearance, India Awaaz for Global South: S. Jaishankar ahead of G7.
Incidentally, for the last three years, India has been hosting the voice of the Global South Summit, which the government has shortened the Vogues.
To declare our responsibility, the immediate provocation was linked to our arrival in G7, where India is not a member, but nominated – as well as other people like Mexico, Brazil, Comoros and Cook Islands – a ‘Observer’ (in Plainsprak, a viewer).
There is no real role, although sometimes hug and gigling is allowed.
G7 – America, Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Japan – made a statement condemning Iran to be attacked by Israel. Referring to the bombing campaign, in which citizens, including scientists in Tehran and other places, were killed, real players reiterated ‘support for Israel’s safety’, confirmed Israel that Israel had the right to defend itself and ‘Iran is a major source of regional instability and terror’.
The Vogues had no opinion on this, even though our Prime Minister noticed that it was ‘time to feel our presence’, as Vogs were kept on silent.
It is not clear why we participate in meetings where we have no to say. But who can question powerful? His reasons are due to him.
In fact, it was time to feel our presence elsewhere.
Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) – In which Vogues is a member and in fact it is to say – also made a statement on the same subject.
Nine SCO players are: China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. His citizens represent some 42 percent of humans on this planet, which are the majority of the global South. SCO Charter says its duty is ‘to promote a new democratic, fair and rational international and economic international system’. Meaning it will stand for the rights of weak and poor nations.
The SCO’s statement ‘strongly condemned (Ed) military attacks by Israel’ and said that ‘such aggressive action against civil goals including energy and transport infrastructure, resulting in citizens casualties, is a gross violation of international law and United Nations Charter.’
On the same day (June 14) India excluded a counter-statement, removed itself from these words and clarified that ‘India did not participate in the discussion on the above SCO statement’.
Again, it is not clear why we run away from discussions. We can impress as participants and instead participate in those where we are spectators. Voggs ‘mysteriously’ works, (its) miracles to perform, because the poet William Cowper would have put it.
The headline of the newspaper of June 14 was read: ‘Bharat Parban, 149 nations back to the Gaza ceasefire’ resolution of the United Nations’. Sankalp condemned ‘the use of starvation and the help of war strategy’ and demanded to raise the blockade by Israel.
All South Asian countries voted for this except Vogues.
The reason given thus reads this way: ‘India’s abortion was in the belief that there is no other way to solve the conflicts, but through dialogue and diplomacy’ and ‘our joint effort should be directed to bring both sides closer’.
Yes, of course, we should bring people who are bombing and who are bombing closely.
Reminds me that in cricket, a lot of doing nothing to do is called ‘weapon on shoulder’.
The website of the Ministry of External Affairs tells us that on 14 August 2024, India hosted its third Vogues: ‘This unique initiative began as an expansion of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision’Saba Sixty, Saba Vikas, Saba Vishwas and Saba effort“, And underlined from the philosophy of India Vasudhiv KutumbakamIt envisages bringing global South countries together to share its approach and preferences on a normal platform in a full range of issues. ,
On 8 May, in a case related to the status and exile of the Rohingya refugees, the same Government of India told the Supreme Court that it neither recognizes the UNHCR-refugee cards nor does the Rohingyas not have a signator for the 1951 United Nations refugee conference as refugees since India and therefore, therefore, does not expand any kind of refugee security.
Apparently, its bombing about Vogues and a global family comes with many terms and conditions.
It can hardly be said that the United Nations Refugee Conference’s non-availability of India may not be excited to send people in terms of danger, harassment and statelessness.
Under the principle of ‘non-generating’ in customary international law, India still needs to avoid forcing people to return to places where they will have a real risk of serious human rights violations and being subjected to abuses.
It is a specific legal obligation under the International Covenant on Citizen and Political Rights – for which India Is A party.
But why should we care? And is preventing us from giving a grand speech about global South and our shared humanity, while acting in the opposite manner?
Nothing, and therefore the Charade will move forward.

Uncontrolled promises, marginalized: CONG on 10 years of ‘Digital India’

The Modi government placed ‘Digital India’ as a movement of people, which democratoized technology in 10 years, the Congress on Tuesday claimed that the fine print of its “loud claims” was killed by incomplete promises, to damage the marginalized digital exclusion, to damage the confidentiality and weaken transparency.
Digital India is a major program of the government launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 1 July 2015, which aims to convert India into a digitally strong society and knowledge economy.
Questioning the claims of the government about the success of the initiative, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge cited data showing villages and schools, which has so far increased broadband connectivity, growing loans of state -owned telecom companies MTNL and BSNL, and Cyber Crime.
At the same time, the opposition party demanded to take credit for laying the foundation of several pathbreaking initiatives like Aadhaar and UPI during its rule. Kharge said in a post on X, “The proper print of Modi government’s ‘Digital India’ is associated with incomplete promises and false claims.”
Till 26 June, under the Bharatnet project, a total of 6.55 lakh villages were to be targeted for broadband connectivity, but 4.53 lakh villages, ie 65 percent, have not been covered yet, they have claimed.
“The project deadline has been revised at least 8 times in 11 years. A small 0.73% (766) gram panchayats currently have active Wi-Fi services. When private players are choosing for 5G, BSNL has not yet met its target to deploy 1 lakh 4G towers.
The Modi government has a fine print of the high claims of ‘Digital India’ –

Even after receiving three revival packages of more than Rs 3 lakh crore – Rs 69,000 crore in 2019, Rs 1.64 lakh crore in 2022 and Rs 89,047 crore in 2023 – it is still behind private players, Kharge said.
He said that in March 2014, BSNL’s loan increased by Rs 291.7 percent in March 2014, in March 2024, in March 2024 increased to Rs 23,297 crore. “MTNL’s loan rose 136.2%to more than Rs 14,210 crore to Rs 33,568 crore.
Kharge also flagged off the issue of “marginalized digital exclusion”. He said that 75.3 percent of people aged 15 years and above do not know how to use computers in the country. “This includes 81.9% in rural areas and 60.4% in urban areas, highlighting a significant digital skills difference. (NSS survey, 20-21),” he said.
He said that about 7 crore registered workers were excluded from MNREGA by implementing the Aadhaar-based payment status. Kharge further claimed that 54 percent of government schools do not have internet connection, 79 percent have no desktop computer, 85 percent lack of projector and 79 percent does not have smart classrooms.
He also alleged that it hurt secrecy and weakened transparency. “No one less than PM Modi, allegedly told ministers and secretaries that India saw 100 million cyber attacks since the Pahgam terror attack. Cybercity incidents increased by about 76.25% from 2020 to 2024. Growed from 11.58 lakhs in 2024 to more than 20.41 lakhs in 2024.
Between 2022 and 2024, digital arrest scams and related cybercrimes in India were almost three times, and the money was lost 21 times, he said, citing answers to questions in the Rajya Sabha. He alleged that the RTI Act introduced by the Congress is being weakened by bringing it to an error data protection law.
Kharge said, “We were told that demonetisation would reduce cash transactions, but the cash has increased last year.”
“Narendra Modi ji, we need to keep on record that it was under the then PM Dr. Manmohan Singh, that we made direct benefits through Aadhaar and UPI architecture, which has made India a leader in digital transactions. The National Payment Corporation (NPCI) which runs UPI transactions, was established by the UPA government in 2009,” He said.
The first direct benefit transfer scheme-Pahal LPG was launched by the Congress-up for 9.55 crore beneficiaries for subsidy, Kharge reported.
The Congress president said, “Therefore, instead of shining on national achievements, and trying to take credit for #10yearsOFDIGITALINDIA, perhaps you should reflect many failures and fraud by your government.”
Following his comment, Prime Minister Modi said on Tuesday that Digital India initiative launched a decade ago, reduced the digital division between Havs and Have-Nots, and democratic opportunities, emphasizing that it had become a movement of people.
In a post on LinkedIn, he said that while decades were spent doubting the ability of Indians to use technology, his government changed this view and trusted citizens’ ability to use technology.

Is India giving priority to American farmers in itself?

Recently, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan had made a clear statement, indicating that the government has no immediate plan for GM seeds (although GM seeds of GM seeds and mustard of GM seeds already available to Indian farmers) in Indian agriculture. No new GM seed will be introduced for now.
If we compare this stance with recommendations in the Niti Aig paper, a contradiction becomes clear: the paper indicates the benefit of GM crops to American farmers through duty-free access, while Indian farmers are still banned from using such seeds.
It is important to note that the document in the question is a working paper, not the official policy document. For example, its content does not represent formal government policy. However, the paper provides insight into thinking within the policy of the policy and, possibly, the direction of internal ideas within the government. The dispute highlights the complex and often conflicting pressures that shape India’s agricultural policy in front of global trade challenges.

Why JNU’s own entrance exam matters

This is the question in the heart of protest: Why is JNU entrance exam so important? Why students and faculties say here that it should be retained:
Why JNU’s PHD in entrance exam cases
-
Lack number system: The unique model of JNU provides additional weightage to backward sectors and women candidates. This positive action helps to level the playground and is seen as necessary to ensure social justice in entry
-
In-house entrance exam: Traditionally, JNU conducted its examination, which is ready to assess students in line with the separate educational culture of the university. This enabled comprehensive evaluation beyond multi-intellectual testing, adjusting diverse intellectual backgrounds.
-
Commitment to social inclusion: JNU’s entry policies have long reflected their commitment to equity, which takes shape through years of student activism. Centralized examinations like NET (National Entrance Test), critics argue, bend the balance in favor of people with expensive coaching and resources.
Protest timelines and charges
In an open letter on 26 June, JNUSU President Nitish Kumar, Vice President Manisha, and General Secretary Mutteha Fatima accused the administration of sacrificing the promise made during the 17-day hunger strike in August 2023-2025-26 to restore JNUEE from the academic session. He alleged that the administration is using “lack of funds” on the pretext of stalling the entrance examination, carrying forward the model benefiting the ideological colleagues of RSS and ABVP.
Vice Chancellor Pandit, in his response on 27 June, claimed that he had asked all Dean to take responsibility for taking the entrance exam last year, but no one offered written commitment. He said that many chose for UGC-Net and QET, instead, citing widespread access and high participation from reserved categories. “As the democratic head of the institution,” he said, “I should respect his collective decision.”
Faculty stands with students
Rejecting VC’s arguments, Januta called the decision out of exclusion and poor plan.
In a letter issued on June 30, it was reported that the net results of June 2025 will not be declared on time for the upcoming academic cycle, effectively stopping the candidates who completed their master’s degree by applying this year.
JNUTA demanded a comprehensive meeting with university officials, including representatives of teachers, to discuss what it is called “fragmented and exclusion” entry policy. He also criticized the VC’s request, including the joint-religion-sure Vaibhav Meena-Ek JNUSU member, which supports the CUET/NET model and has not participated in the strike-to reflect the collective stand of the Sangh in the discussion. In particular, the JNU administration has postponed the meeting of stakeholders.
