Jaishankar announces at the end – and blames Nehru

Lok Sabha was postponed till 4 pm amid opposition protests

The Lok Sabha proceedings were postponed for the second time on Thursday, 31 July, which was amid protests by opposition members on various issues including the Pol Roll Revision in Bihar.

As soon as the house met again at 2 pm, the chair had to postpone the proceedings till 4 pm as the opposition members continued their protest.

Some opposition members were shouting slogans in the well of the house, as they sought a discussion on some issues.

Awadhesh Prasad, who was presiding over the house, urged the members to take their seats, but postponed the proceedings as their arguments were unheard.

Earlier, Speaker Om Birla had urged the protesting members to stop shouting slogans and go back to their seats.

“You (protesting members) do not want to discuss issues? …,” He said and also asked if people have chosen him to raise slogans in the House.

The House is to discuss issues and the behavior of the members is not appropriate, Birla said before postponing the proceedings till 2 pm

As soon as DIN continued, the proceedings were again postponed in less than 7 minutes.

The House had time to congratulate the scientists involved in the successful flight of a GSLV rocket, which placed an Earth observation satellite, jointly developed by ISRO and NASA.
