Congress expressed pain over the ‘torture’ of 2 Dalit men in Odisha

A party leader said, “The committee has been asked to visit the village, attach to the victims directly and submit an immediate report to the state Congress.”
An alleged video of the incident went viral, causing extensive criticism in the political field.
However, PTI could not verify the authenticity of the video independently.
The victims-Babula Nayak (54) and Bulu Nayak (42) were carrying their villages in an auto in Singipur-two cows and an auto, when they were caught by a group of self-declared ‘cow protector’ in Khargumma, who accused two of the smuggling cattle, accused the police.
“The mob allegedly demanded Rs 30,000 from the pair. When the victims refused, they were assaulted and subjected to derogatory treatment. They were taken to a salon and their heads were partially toned. Then they were forced to crawl on their knees for more than a kilometer, fed grass and made to make them.
After management to escape from the crowd, the victims on Sunday evening filed an FIR against the accused at the Dharkot police station.
According to the victims, cattle meant Babula’s daughter as a traditional gift for marriage.
The official said that the police had detained nine people for allegedly attacking and partially tonged the heads of two Dalit men.
Ganjam SP Suvendu Kumar Patra said that a case was registered under various sections of BNS and SC/ST Act.
Initial investigation shows that the objective of the attackers was not animal protection, but forced recovery, the police said.
“Investigation is going on and strict action will be taken to ensure fast justice,” the SP said.
In a social media post, opposition BJD said, “People are becoming increasingly restless. Law and order is collapsing in Odisha.”

RJD, AIMIM urged the time limit expansion for voter list

The Supreme Court announced on Friday, August 29, that it will hear petitions filed by RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) and AIMIM (All India Majlis-e-Idena-ul-Musslimin), who seek more time for voters, blessing for assembly elections at the end of this year.
For example, the hearing date matches the current deadline to enter such claims and objections – 1 September.
Justice Surya Kant, Jomalya Bagchi and Vipul M. A bench with Pancholi confirmed that the hearing would be held on Monday (1 September). The court was decided after Advocate Prashant Bhushan and senior advocate Shoaib Alam, who representing RJD, informed the bench that several applications were requested to expand the deadline.
Nizam Pasha, representing AIMIM, supported more time requirement due to the large number of claims being filed.
“The number of claims filed is increasing rapidly. The deadline needs to be extended,” Alam told the court.
Pasha said that about 80,000 claims were filed before the court’s 22 August order. The number increased to 95,000 after the order.
“We are requesting to listed these applications as soon as possible,” said Pasha.

VP Vance says

Earlier this month, President Trump called Vance a “most likely” successor for the Maga movement, but VP has speculated about its 2028 schemes.
