The government said that the investigation and vigilance by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the first 2021 information report (FIR) has revealed the large -scale laundering of the drug money by Majithia.

Initial investigation has revealed that the drug money of more than Rs 540 crore has been looted in several ways, including a large cash of Rs 161 crore deposited in bank accounts of companies controlled by Majithia, a channel of Rs 141 crore through suspected foreign institutions and an additional statement of Rs 236 crore in any rupee without a company.

In addition, the government said that without any valid source of income, Majithia is acquired by Majithia and acquisition of real estate.

A day earlier, Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Sond accused the BJP -led Central Government that he should obstruct Majithia’s efforts in Punjab’s efforts and raised serious concerns about the objectives behind such tasks.

He said that the Vigilance Bureau is conducting a thorough investigation into Majithia’s uneven assets and their funding sources.

He said, “The Punjab Police went to Delhi to raid Majithia’s assets to collect documents and evidence in full legal compliance, however, Delhi Police, who works under the BJP, denied permission to the Punjab Police to conduct these raids,” he told the media.

Questioning the BJP’s intentions, the minister asked, “Is BJP actively supporting Bikram Majithia? Is they saving it in return for political gains?”

He alleged that the BJP has signed a secret deal with Majithia to save it in exchange for future loyalty to the party. Sond said, “We have received a reliable report that the BJP has assured Majithia his support in his case, with the condition that he has joined the BJP, and in the coming days, the BJP wants an alliance with the Akali Dal,” Sond said.
