R Ashwin has given the next big update on his career after retiring from IPL (X/@ChennaiIIIIPL)

Ravichandran Ashwin Has revealed that coaching may be the next step of his career after calling time on its Indian Premier League trip. The experienced off-spinner, who retired from international cricket last year, announced earlier this week that he would not be a part of the IPL, going ahead, signed with Chennai Super Kings, which is a franchise where his career began. Speaking on YouTube channel “Bat”, Ashwin Accepted that he wanted to move forward with clarity. He said, “I am a very impulsive person. When I believe something strongly, I run after this. Now I am running after happiness in the game,” he said. The 38 -year -old explained that it was difficult to manage the IPL intensity with age. Looking further, the off-spinner insisted that coaching could be a natural progress. “My next chapter might be coaching. For that, I consider it a very important tool. I would like to believe that the game is preparing me for this, ”he said. Ashwin also revealed that a dual role was discussed during his tenure with Rajasthan Royals. “In fact, when I was playing for Rajasthan Royals, we broke the subject (of coach cum player). I will not name because it will not be right from me. But we had a discussion about whether someone can play as a cricketer and also take the role of coaching at the same time. It did not go anywhere,” he said, spoke in terms of Shane Warne. He said that when IPL cannot offer such flexibility, there may be opportunities abroad. “In all, in India and in IPL, it is very difficult to find out such a role. But perhaps else, if I am playing in another league, some coaching may be likely to take responsibility. Every team will have a clear coach, but for me it will be about learning, somehow about contributing to players.” While reflecting his experience with the Tamil Nadu Premier League, Ashwin said that it had already given him a taste of coaching dimensions. “In the last two years in the TNPL, I have actually been in a captain-less-coach role. There was no other coach, so I got a lot of opportunity to learn. The players are not at the IPL level, so you work more closely with them. That way, when you go and play in different places, you keep learning new people, new faces, and,” they said.
