Taiwanese Olympic boxing gold medalist Lynn You-Ting will not participate in the upcoming World Championships, despite allegedly presenting the necessary sex test results, Taiwan’s boxing association confirmed the AFP on Tuesday. This decision comes amidst the new compulsory sex test policy of world boxing for women contestants in the September 4-14 championship.During the 2024 Paris Olympics, Lynn and Algerian boxer Imane Kheliff were involved in a significant gender dispute, where both athletes won the titles in various weight categories.World Boxing announced last month that women participants would have to undergo compulsory sex tests to compete in the Liverpool Championship. 29-year-old Lynn agreed to take the exam, according to his coach Tseng Tzu-Chiang.According to the Central News Agency, Taiwan’s Boxing Association reported the results of Lynn’s test in world boxing, but received no response.The association said, “We cannot allow the athletes to travel to the UK without any guarantee.”The association confirmed the AFP that Lynn would not participate in the championship, but did not give any clarification for the decision.Under the policy of world boxing, more than 18 fighters should take a PCR (polymerase chain reaction) genetic test to determine their sex at birth for participation in sanctioned competitions.

India, Nigeria emerges as a contender to host 2030 Commonwealth Games

India and Nigeria have emerged as two contenders to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games, the two countries have presented their formal bids before the August 31 deadline. The Indian Olympic Association has proposed Ahmedabad as its favorite host city for the centenary edition of the multi-sporting event.The Commonwealth Sport has confirmed the receipt of formal proposals from both countries. The dialects will be evaluated by an appointed Commission, which will include in-commerce presentations in London this September.The Assessment Commission will submit its findings to the CS Executive Board, which will then recommend a host to 74 member nations for final approval at the General Assembly in Glasgow, Scotland in late November.Sandra Osborne, CS Vice President and Chairman of Barbados Commonwealth Games Association and Olympic Committee, will head the Assessment Commission. The Commission includes Helen Philips, Brandon Williams, Ian Reid, Andrew Ryan and Darren Hall as a non-contribution member.Canada initially showed interest in hosting 2030 Games, but later withdrew its dialect citing lack of budget.Commonwealth Sport President Donald Rukre said, “We are happy to confirm that India and Nigeria have submitted exciting formal proposals to host the century edition of the Commonwealth Games in 2030.”“This positive response to two sports powerhouse countries of the Commonwealth shows the continuous importance and inheritance capacity of the Commonwealth Games and the strength and appeal of our restoration, permanent sports model.”“2030 The Assessment Commission now has an important and difficult task of reviewing and evaluating proposals and recommending the Executive Board a host and eventually, recommending 74 nation and region members of the Commonwealth Games movement.”The Commonwealth Sport in January began a new colleague host selection process, inviting its CGA members to express interest in hosting 2030 sports and future versions. The time frame of initial manifestations of interest was determined for the end of March.After the initial stage, CS worked closely with interested CGA and their regional representatives and assessed hosting viability and supported the development of detailed proposals.The organization’s 2023-2034 ‘Commonwealth United’ Strategic Plan and ‘Games Reset’ have moved away from traditional bidding processes. This new approach provides flexibility to flexibility to work innovative and collaboratively through a co-construction process, ensuring meaningful participation from all Commonwealth Sports members.
