‘Start Dreaming Big’: She shares her struggle-to-failure journey as Lovelina Borghehen for children
Olympic medalist Lovlina borgohain Children growing up in the villages of India have urged them to overcome their fear of making high goals and start chasing big dreams, no matter the circumstances. The Assam boxer, who woke up from a minor background to win bronze at the Tokyo Olympics, believes that his story proves that inspiration can make a much further change from a person.“Many children in the villages who did not dream as adults are now able to think about it. The story of one can inspire the story of thousands. I say start dreaming,” Lovlina said in a heartfelt conversation on the game, which was hosted by Preeti Dahiya.From tea garden to boxing ringLovalina Growed up near a tea garden in Assam, where her father worked to support the family. Boxing was never a clear option. “My father used to work in a tea garden. He brought sweets from there. I came to know about it. Mohammad Ali Used as a cover for sweets in the newspaper, ”he remembered. But due to no sports facility in his village, his path was not clear.“There were no sports centers in our village. My mother initially asked me to learn martial arts for self -defense. But somewhere in my mind I thought I should become a boxer. By joining the Sports Authority of India Hostel in Guwahati, Lovlina faced challenges – language barriers, financial stress and mental pressure.“When I started, I had to face a lot of difficulties because I came from a village. Our atmosphere was not favorable to dream big-we were happy with small things. The farming was done at home, everything was self-sufficient. So it was very difficult to think beyond it,” he explained.But a dream survived: Olympics. He said, “I had a dream of going to the Olympics. I felt very small in facing all obstacles,” he said, he often reminded himself that the true change begins in the mind. “We only have small dreams. If we have big dreams, then only we will be able to achieve something big in life.”Olympic glory and change homeThe dream concluded in 2021 in its historical bronze medal in Tokyo, which not only gave Assam to her first female Olympic medalist, but also changed her village.“When I went to the Olympics, there was no proper road in our village. But by the time I returned with a medal, a large road was built till my house. We also got water facilities after that. It was very special for me, “he said proudly.A message for the next generationLovlina said that her visit is evidence that even children from the most remote corners of India can reach global heights. “It’s not easy to dream. People will say that it is impossible, you will doubt yourself, but still you should keep that dream alive. Chopra threw 90.23 meters while finishing second in his season-opening Diamond League meeting for Javelin on 16 May, finally he was violating the iconic 90 meter mark for more than five years.
The 27-year-old athlete expressed his ongoing journey to correct his technology, especially focusing on using his run-up speed more effectively.
“I think I am really fast in the run-up, but I don’t think I am using the speed right now, 90 meters throw was really good, but technically I don’t want to say that it was right. If my left leg is straight and if I use the right block, it will really throw it well and then I will be satisfied with my speed,” said Chopra said.
On Thursday, when asked about potentially throwing 92 meters with better technology, Chopra replied, “You don’t know in the spear, you probably also go to four or five meters.”
